As a flight attendant, Binta doesn't have a lot of time to shop, and constantly being in uniform, she doesn't often even think about shopping. But since the pandemic hit, and along with it some forced downtime, she decided she should treat herself to a closet refresh.
Even though she doesn't get to spend a lot of time with her clothes, she knew she needed a mini closet update.
The first thing I noticed was that she loved her layering pieces; living in a city like Calgary with unpredictable weather and having to pack light and smart when she's working, layers are an essential for her. Since a lot her layering pieces were longer and more casual, I decided to opt for pieces that were short enough to give her some shape, still long enough to cover her less-than-favourite spots, and highly versatile.
A conversation-stopper was the fact that she hadn't worn jeans in 10 year, because, "they just don't fit her". 10 years! That was so crazy to me! Since most jeans on the market are advertised on someone who's 120 lbs and 5'6, I don't know why I was so shocked, but I was determined to change her mind.
We found a few good options at Levi's for more voluptuous body shapes, but American Eagle won her over with their selection. Not only did they offer different washes and curvy fits, they also offered extra long lengths, and for someone who's close to 5"11, those options converted Binta into loyal customer.
